Greenbrier OKs $5 Million Traffic Light Upgrade on Highway 65

At its first meeting of the 2023-24 term, Greenbrier’s City Council has backed a $5 million partnership plan with the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) to upgrade every light and intersection on Highway 65. Greenbrier will be responsible for 20% of the cost, shared with ARDOT.

As well as approving the traffic light resolution, the Council approved a 30-cent-per-1000-gallon hike on Community Water service.

After being sworn in, Mayor Sammy Hartwick (re-elected in 2022) named three aldermen to the Fire & Police Committee for 2023-24: Larry Johnson, Matt Reynolds and Richard Snuggs; all others will serve on the Infrastructure Committee.

Next City Council meeting is February 6 at 6:30 pm at the Greenbrier Municipal Building.
