Annual Grades: Conway Schools Mostly Holding Their Own

Conway Public Schools received annual school letter grades for 2022-2023 from the Arkansas Department of Education in late September, and the measurements show most schools are improving or at least holding their own.

Four schools improved their letter grades from 2021-2022:

Julia Lee Moore Elementary School – B to A
Woodrow Cummins Elementary School – B to A
Ray Simon Middle School – C to B
Conway Junior High School – B to A

These schools’ numerical scores (“accountability percentage”) went up by small increments, but they retained the same letter grade as in 2021-2022:

Ida Burns Elementary School – C
Preston & Florence Mattison Elementary School – D
Theodore Jones Elementary School – C
Bob Courtway Middle School – C

Meanwhile, these schools’ accountability percentage dropped slightly as they retained the same letter grade as in 2021-2022:

Carolyn Lewis Elementary School – A
Jim Stone Elementary School – C
Carl Stuart Middle School – B
Conway High School – C

Two schools dropped a letter grade:

Marguerite Vann Elementary School – C to D
Ruth Doyle Middle School – A to B

Only one Conway School – Ellen Smith Elementary – scored the same in 2022-2023 as in 2021-2022 with a B grade and numerical score of 74.29%.

Elementary, middle, and junior high schools have different rating scales:
